Young people leaving care are eligible for lots of support from higher education institutions - ranging from book vouchers to free accommodation, and a range of other types of support.

In fact, we discovered that there were 17 different kinds of support available for care leavers across universities in the UK - that’s a lot of information that young people have to consider when making their choice about whether to attend university.

To support them with this, we collate the details of all the different types of support that are available just for care leavers at every university in the country, and put it into the form of a booklet for young care leavers that contains all of the information in one easy to access place.

These booklets are then printed and shipped to every local authority and virtual school in England and Scotland, to help them to support the care leavers they work with to make the best decisions about university progression.

We’ve been running this for three years, and so far the feedback has been incredibly positive, with local authorities ordering additional copies to bolster their numbers each year.
